Missions and objectives

The Immigrants’ Department is a specific structure of the OGBL for non-Luxembourgish workers residing in Luxembourg. It is concerned with the particular problems of these employees and has in particular the objective to promote

  • the improvement of the material situation of its members;
  • the equality of opportunities in the economy and society and more particularly in the field of education;
  • the equality of rights in society;
  • the elimination of all forms of discrimination.

Within the framework of these objectives, the Immigrants’ Department draws up a yearly list of proposals and measures to be implemented in the future.
The aim is to guarantee a more just and equitable society for all citizens of this country.
All those who live and work in the Grand Duchy must benefit from the same rights and guarantees without discrimination.

At the national level, the Immigrants’ Department is represented in the CNE (National Council for Foreigners), in the CLAE (Liaison and Action Committee for Foreigners) and in the CCPL (Confederation of the Portuguese Community in Luxembourg).
At the international level, the Immigrants’ Department is represented at the level of ENAR – European Network Against Racism. The OGBL has cooperation agreements with CGTP-IN and UGT-P in Portugal and with INCA/ CGIL in Italy.
