Paul Wurth Luxembourg: request for an urgent meeting

PaulWurth2The staff delegation, the OGBL and the LCGB have just learned with great astonishment that Georges Rassel has been dismissed from his position as CEO of Paul Wurth Luxembourg and of the European region. This tumultuous and unexpected news is a novum for the company and has created a shock wave among the company’s employees.

The employee representatives, strongly supported by the OGBL and the LCGB, are calling for an urgent meeting with the general management in order to try to understand the reasoning behind this quite surprising decision, which breaks directly with the commitments agreed by the group. If necessary, the OGBL and the LCGB will reserve the right to take action by any means at their disposal.

The unannounced decision regarding the CEO raises serious concerns about the intentions of the SMS Group regarding the future of Paul Wurth Luxembourg. Indeed, the SMS group, which has held the majority of the shares for almost two years, proves by this maneuver that it does not respect the agreed commitments. There is now a real risk that the social dialogue within the company will break down. The quality of this social dialogue has set an example for many years in the country and has made it possible to consolidate the social achievements of the employees with their impressive know-how in the field of steel and metallurgy and technological concepts of the future.
