Significant improvements for employees of the International School of Luxembourg (ISL)

After lengthy but constructive negotiations, the OGBL and LCGB signed a renewal of the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) for the over 300 employees of the International School of Luxembourg (ISL) on July 4, 2025.

The negotiations, which were conducted in part in specific working groups for the different categories of staff, resulted in an amendment that significantly revises and improves the existing CBA, while also bringing it into line with changes in legislation.

The negotiations resulted in the following improvements and changes:

  • A complete revision of the pay scales for operational staff and teaching assistants, providing for 24 steps for all these categories (10 to 12 steps in the previous CBA)
  • A significant increase in the face value of meal vouchers, going from €10.80 to €15 starting with the 2025-26 school year
  • A revision of the article on working hours, clarifying the text and introducing a workload calculator tool for upper school teachers and workload consulting groups on workload for lower and upper school
  • Introduction of greater flexibility for support staff to take leave
  • Revision and increase in the amounts of allowances for beyond-the-classroom activities and clubs
  • The inclusion of an article containing definitions of the essential elements of the CBA

All other benefits of the collective bargaining agreement remain unchanged.

The new collective agreement has been concluded for a period of three years, from September 1, 2024, to August 31, 2027, with the new salary scales applying from September 1, 2025.
