Who do we represent?

Our Services and Energy Syndicate is committed to all employees working in a service or energy company in Luxembourg. We represent employees with various profiles and jobs, from the security guard to the computer scientist and engineer, from the consulting company through the travel agency and the telecommunication company to the energy sector as a whole to give a few examples.

What do we do?
  • We support employee delegations in their daily work in companies and in European works councils
  • We offer union training
  • We provide advice on labor law issues to our delegates
  • We organize the exchange of information between employees and/or delegates from the same sector of activity
  • We negotiate collective agreements in companies in order to consolidate employees’ achievements, improve working conditions and ensure a progressive and evolving wage policy
The Services and Energy Syndicate advises its members in particular on the following topics:
  • Organization of working time and overtime
  • Company transfers (practical arrangements and employees’ rights)
  • The impact of digitalization on employees
  • Data protection and privacy rights at work
  • Protection against dismissal, job security, SMEs and social plans
  • Legislative developments in labor and social law (delegation rights, family leave, early retirement, working time, …)
  • New forms of work and their risks (open space, paperless office, teleworking…)
  • The problem of fake management employees
  • Continuing vocational training
Why is our work important?

These days with social inequalities growing, with social achievements being called into question once again, with pressure on jobs increasing, and with at the same time work intensity and therefore stress in the workplace rising, trade unions are not only useful, but even necessary. More than ever, we need a strong, representative and united trade union that can both influence social and economic policy and defend the collective and individual interests of its members, be it in the company, in the sector, on a national, European or international level.

Our Syndicate

Social Elections 2019

During the last social elections, more than 400 employees applied as OGBL representatives in about 70 companies in the Services and Energy sector. With 156 effective employee representatives and 143 substitute delegates, the OGBL has had in these companies almost 75% of all possible mandates and has thus shown itself to be the most powerful trade union in the services and energy sector.

The syndicate leadership

The main structure is the syndicate leadership. It is elected every five years at a syndicate day, to which all OGBL staff representatives and all those who were OGBL candidates in the last social elections are invited. In the syndicate leadership there are representatives of the different interest groups of the syndicate.

What are our objectives?

In the age of digitalization and in the face of the permanent changes in the world of work, the OGBL gives absolute priority to the well-being of employees and their families. The OGBL is committed to:

  • Quality jobs and good salaries
  • A better balance between private and professional life
  • The promotion of equality
  • Securing jobs
  • Access for all to quality care
  • A quality public pension plan
  • A socially just family policy
  • The fight against social exclusion, poverty, discrimination, racism and intolerance – Reduction of working time
