gains are at risk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<h2><b>Attack on collective work agreements (CWA), a slap in the face for employees!<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/h2>\n<p>For years, the OGBL and the LCGB have been calling for a reform of the legal framework for collective work agreements<\/p>\n<p>In order to increase the number of CWAs and negotiate more modern CWAs tailored to employees\u2018 needs and demands.<\/p>\n<p>However, the Minister of Labour supports employers to render CWAs meaningless by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>reducing the mandatory content of CWAs to a strict minimum;<\/li>\n<li>the possibility of negotiating CWAs that disadvantageously deviate from the labour law;<\/li>\n<li>the possibility of negotiating CWAs without trade unions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>The Minister\u2018s plan, presented to the Standing Committee on Labour and Employment (CPTE) on 8 October 2024, is nothing less than a sell-out of employees\u2018 rights and achievements.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Indeed, calling into question the right of trade unions tonegotiate and sign CWAs means:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>calling into question all existing CWAs;<\/li>\n<li>promoting CWAs without added value for employees;<\/li>\n<li>calling into question all employees\u2018 legal rights and achievements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For the Minister and the employers, the ideal CWA is one that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>sells off all the legal or extra-legal rights and achievements of employees that bother the employer;<\/li>\n<li>enables the employer to come to terms with whoever is willing to sign CWAs that cost him nothing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Clearly, neutral delegates, without the support of a nationally representative trade union, do not have the necessary bargaining power to defend and impose improvements on the employer.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<h2><b>This reform is therefore afrontal attack on the most fundamental rights and achievements of all employees in Luxembourg!<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b>It calls into questionall the trade union gainsin the CWAs:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>salary scales<\/li>\n<li>additional leave<\/li>\n<li>13<sup>th <\/sup>month<\/li>\n<li>reduced working hours<\/li>\n<li>participation in company profits<\/li>\n<li>etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>It jeopardises all the majorsocial advances that the unions have fought for:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>automatic wage indexation<\/li>\n<li>the social minimum wage<\/li>\n<li>social security systems (health insurance, pensions and long-term care)<\/li>\n<li>family benefits (child benefit, parental leave, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>the 40-hour working week<\/li>\n<li>statutory holidays and rest periods<\/li>\n<li>etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><b>The OGBL and the LCGB say <\/b><b>NO <\/b><b>to this scandalous policyaimed at destroying the social achievements of employees!<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><strong>The OGBL and the LCGB are jointlycalling on all their staff representatives&amp;
