On September 6, 2023, the management of Goodyear Luxembourg announced its intention to cut 55 jobs. These are all administrative jobs. At the same meeting, management announced that it will invite the unions to discuss the situation in the next few days. According to management, all options are on the table.<\/p>\n

For the OGBL, it is clear that the situation requires the implementation of a job protection plan (plan de maintien dans l’emploi – PME).<\/p>\n

Given that management has explicitly expressed its willingness to meet with the unions as soon as possible, the OGBL is astonished that another union is publicly claiming to have requested an “urgent meeting” with management. Worse still, the union’s communication implies that the 3,500 jobs at Goodyear Luxembourg are under threat, which is far from the case.<\/p>\n

The OGBL will, of course, do everything in its power to avoid redundancies, in particular by implementing a PME. The OGBL looks forward to starting negotiations on a PME as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
